CARABAO CUP

The Caraboa Cup not only kicks off the domestic cup season it also heralds the beginning of our own first cup competition . Kicking off within days of the season starting , all goals scored in the League Cup will count towards finding the winners of this competition which along with a similar FA Cup event will replace the two cup competitions from last season  . All goals scored by all sides count towards your individual total , remember many of the ‘big’ clubs are not entered into the early rounds so goals netted by your League One and Two sides may well count dividends in the long run , sides from the Vanarama League do not compete in the Littlewoods Cup .

Any Worthington Cup goals scored in normal time , extra time , first legs , second legs and replays (do they still have replays ?) count towards your total , although goals scored in a penalty shoot out DO NOT COUNT .

The Milk Cup prize money and awards will be split over four different sections , with prizes for 1st  & 2nd  places  .

The first cup money on offer will be for whoever’s four teams score the most total goals in the first and second rounds of the Rumbelows Cup combined .

Following that there will be similar prizes on offer for whoever scores most in Rounds Three and Four of the Carling Cup combined .

Thirdly a total combined score for the Coca Cola Cup Quarter Finals , Capital One Cup Semi Finals and the Final itself .

And finally a combined score for the overall highest scorers from Round One all the way to the final .

If any of the about stages result in one or more members finishing on level goals the prize money shall be split accordingly .

As the latter stages of the competition take place after the mid-season re-draw for the purposes of the Caraboa Cup the sides you are allocated in August remain with you until the final of this competition .

As some members will know at the end of last season for some reason there was £15 left in the Lucky 13 pot . This £15 was invested by the purchase of a place in the Bell Euro Sweepstake , by virtue of finishing second in the Most Penalties Scored category , the £15 turned into a massive £20 .

The £20.00 will now be re-invested over the next four weeks by way of 4 x Saturday afternoon football bets . Now either this experiment will be over by the end of the month or potentially ‘this time next year Rodney’ , who knows . To kick off with we will use the teams allocated to last season’s winner Aaron , so therefore we need both teams to score in the matches involving Sunderland , Birmingham , Morecombe & Aldershot . Sky Bet have been chosen as the bookie to beat this week and the bet receipt should appear below .

MIDWEEK CUP UPDATE

caraboa Cup

There are a few more Caraboa Cup Round Three games next week to accommodate the sides playing in Europe , however with the majority of the ties played here is a brief summary . There are prizes for the member whose sides score the most goals combined in Rounds Three and Four ,and , Wayne who has had an atrocious start to the league season currently leads the way following Manchester United's seven goal haul on Tuesday night , admittedly United will not be facing sides like Barnsley every week , well not for the next couple of seasons at least  . The winner of the most goals from Rounds One and Two was Gibby , and how times change , he has no longer in the competition after seeing all his sides eliminated , Danny and Ant suffered the same fate . Five members , Wayne , Gary , Buger , Gavin and Graham have two sides left in the Cup going into next week's ties , whilst three League Two sides remain in the competition , with a prize for whoever's side stays in the competition longest .

fa cup

Not much changed following the FA Cup replays , Barry has joined Graham at the top of the leader board as we go into the next round in a couple of weeks time . All sides representing members were winners in their replays , with the exception of Marine FC who by losing completed a unique double for Danny as all his sides contesting both cup competitions so far have now been eliminated .

saturday 14th september  - second qualifying round

Our National League North and South sides began their journey to Wembley this weekend , with varying success for members , whilst remembering there is a prize for whoever's side from this tier remains in the competition the longest . Graham leads the way with nine goals , closely followed by Barry on eight , at the other end of the scale Andy failed to score and in doing so saw both his sides exit the competition , as did Danny and Johnny (there is also a prize for the player to lose all seven of their sides the earliest). They may not be the only casualties as several sides will need a replay to see if they progress to the next round , a chance for more goals , coupled with the possibility of elimination . The leader chart is hopefully shown below , if your team(s) are highlighted in yellow their FA Cup season is over , if your teams appears in green they live to fight another day via a replay , all other sides are on their way to the next round

breaking news :

SUNDAY 13TH OCTOBER

This weekend saw the final fixtures in the first stage of league competitions , here is a round up of how it ended up

Conference

Gary , Steve and Blind were already assured promotion from the bottom tier and it was the latter who secured the title with a 2-1 win against bottom placed Matt , as Gary and Steve both stumbled against lower placed Roger and Wayne . The final promotion place went to Lee who overcame Gibby 4-0 in their shoot out match .

Championship

It was a much closer affair in the Championship , with three promotion places to the Premier up for grabs ,four of the eight players ended up on ten points . Andy was the unlucky one and stays in the Championship on goal difference , whilst Buger and Danny missed out on being Champions by being just one goal worse off than eventual Champion Ant .

John , Rob L , Gavin and Chuds will begin the next stage in the bottom Division .

Premier League

Rob F , Mully and Barry are relegated from the top division , whilst it was close at the top to determine who would be our first Premier League Champion . Going into the weekend Aaron led Del on goal difference .  Due to the reduced fixture list Del could only manage a 1-1 draw with Rob F , seemingly handing the title on a plate to Aaron , who took on bottom of the table Barry in the El Klattico , however an unheard of five goal haul by Shrewsbury enabled Barry to secure a 6-1 win and  allow Del to become champion by a point .

Along with the top two Graham , Clive and Mick all retain their Premier League status .

Final tables and scores can be found here

LAST WEEKEND'S HIGHLIGHTS

In the Conference it was business as usual for Matt who currently sits bottom of the League , a position he has made very much his own in recent weeks , following a heavy defeat to Rob L who missed out on the Lucky 13 by just a goal (more to follow) . Rob is joined in the top three by Wayne and John who defeated Gavin and Gibby respectively , a share of the spoils for Chuds and Roger completes the league .

The Championship saw newly relegated Rob F and Mully chomping at the bit to return to the top flight as they both recorded wins , along with promoted Steve and in weekly terms Championship veteran Andy . Gary , Barry , Lee and Blind will have to wait at least another week to record a win in the middle tier .

Defending Premier League champion Del began his defence with a win over Mick . All three of the promoted players suffered defeats in their first matches , Buger and Danny losing to Aaron and Graham , whilst Ant went down to league leader Clive who became the latest LUCKY 13 winner . Clive was very fortunate not to share his prize with Rob L who agonisingly hit 14 goals , with a second Woking goal in the National League his undoing . In fact as we have not had one for a while lets put Dale Gorman in the hall of fame , click here to see how close Rob came to claiming a share of the prize .

UPDATE

Before a review of last week's results , a quick look ahead to what is in store this coming week . Tuesday and Wednesday will see the next round of the Caraboa Cup , prizes on offer for the highest scorers in Rounds Three and Four combined with Wayne currently leading the way .

The first Round Proper of the FA Cup takes place next Saturday , meaning there will be no action in League One , League Two or the National League therefore those teams taking playing in a handful of midweek games may benefit from what promises to be a low scoring week .

So to the week just completed , another Lucky 13 winner with £10 making its way to Andy who along with Rob F seem to currently be favourites to gain promotion to the Premier League in a fortnights time , elsewhere in the Championship Barry and Lee remain pointless , whilst the other four players are tied on three points each .

Gavin is the only one without a point in the Conference despite scoring enough goals to defeat 20 of the other 23 competing players , unfortunately for him not his opponent , Johnny , who leads the Division being the only person on maximum points .

Premier League Champion Del once again sits top of the table on goal difference ahead of Aaron , the three promoted players sit in the relegation places with Buger yet to score a point , whilst Danny and Ant have a point apiece following a 32 goal stalemate !

MONDAY 30TH DECEMBER 2024

The final results report of 2024 as we enter the final week of this stage of league fixtures , and also the final week of the first half of the season with the teams from the re-draw coming into effect from next Monday (6th January 2025) . With only a week there is much to be decided ;

PREMIER LEAGUE

Del currently leads the table and could be on course for a fourth consecutive title  , however there are four others in the top flight who could overtake him , likewise 7 of the 8 could face dropping into the Championship for the next stage of matches .

CHAMPIONSHIP

The only issue resolved in the middle tier is that Matt will not be relegated , four of the eight could win the title , seven of the eight could be relegated , and all members are in with a chance of promotion . Two Championship players enjoyed 13-12 wins this week and will share the current £80 Lucky 13 Prize Pot .

CONFERENCE

Similarly to the Championship very little is decided in the lowest Division , Rob will be promoted as Champion barring a catastrophic defeat , meanwhile any of the other seven could join him with promotion next week .

FA CUP THIRD ROUND DRAW

The FA Cup third round draw has ensured that TWO OF  the five players with four sides left in the competition  are certain to have that number reduced . Clive's League One side Reading have been drawn against Burnley his Championship team . Matt's League One representatives Leyton Orient will play his Championship side Derby County
